Jay Thompson

Jay Thompson, a Globe Photos photographer who specialized in publicity photos of stage plays in the Los Angeles area. He was also known for his portraits of celebrities such as Bette Davis, Lucille Ball and Eleanor Roosevelt. A native of East Orange, N.J., Thompson served in the Army in the 1950s.  Perhaps his most iconic photo shoot occurred at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles in 1969, where he captured incredible candid photos of the legendary rock group, Led Zeppelin.
